I correctly predicted that Martin Guest would win. At 64 years old Martin ran a course time of 35:29 that made him impossible to catch. I didn't predict that Dean Abbass would manage to get close enough to scare him, at age 52 running a 31:55 to finish just 26 seconds behind Martin. And I also didn't predict that Corey Deveaux would have a super-strong race (a course time of 29:46 - fastest of the day) to make it into 3rd place. Allan MacKenzie and Peter Hanna (7 days after a full marathon!) were not far behind Corey. Rounding out the top 10 were Erin Pyke-Forsey, Ron Walsh, Larry Maxwell (this year representing the entire Maxwell clan), Renee MacDonald, and Steve MacNeil.
Thank you to all the volunteers who braved a viciously cold north wind to make the run happen today: Karen Campbell, James Forsey, Jill Vallis, Lisa MacKenzie, Glenn Smith, Julie Curwin, and Dave Gabriel. Thanks all!
The full Pursuit Run results are posted here on the website.
Thanks a lot to Bernadette MacLellan and Karen Campbell for all the work they do putting on the Kid's Run Series every year. This year there were over 40 finishers, many of whom were present to get their awards, and some awesome draw prizes today.
To all the CBRR age-group winners this year - well done!! The club has become increasingly competitive over the last few years, and it is now very hard to "bubble up to the top" of an age division. (Age Group winners are posted at cbtrisports.com under "results"). Top finisher in each age group was this year rewarded with a 40$ gift certificate from Escape Outdoors. Remember to check them out on the main drag in North Sydney. They have been a great sponsor of the club this year.
And a very big congratulations to overall series winners Justin Lalanne and Erin Pyke-Forsey, who both ran consistently well this year to take home the W's. Good on ya both.
We're already making some plans for the 2015 CBRR series, which will start with the James Delorey 5K on the first weekend of December. Hope to see you there! Remember you can sign up for the CBRR 2015 series any time. 20$ gets you a pair of greart wool-blend running socks, inclusion in the 2015 Points Series, free entry in the 2015 Pursuit Run, and (in the works) discounts on some race entries.
And remember this is YOUR CLUB! We appreciate your input and suggestions, and especially your volunteerism! Let me know if you have input for 2015...
